Fall Harvest & Spring Harvest

Spring:  March 28-April 8, 2011

 

Every Fall Salem collects non-perishable food items and toiletries to benefit the Western Wake Crisis Ministries located in Apex and Ronald McDonald House in Durham.  We will send fliers home with a list of items which are in particular need at those time.

The recycled tabs that we collect help Ronald McDonald House provide a “Home away from home” for families of children with serious illnesses who are undergoing treatment at a nearby medical facility.  Please join Salem Elementary in supporting our local Ronald McDonald House located in Durham.  You can start by collecting pop-tabs from items such as soda cans, fruit cans, soup cans, pet food, etc. and have your child return them to school. 

 

 

 

“HATS ON DAY”

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

    Every year, we chose a day in September to raise awareness to childhood cancer.  Often at school, kids with cancer are the only ones wearing hats to conceal hair loss from treatments such as chemotherapy. Treatments for cancer make it hard for kids to be kids!  So we show our support by having our kids wear a hat to school!
