Tentative Book Fair Dates: November 9-17, 2010
It is something to see a student get excited about reading a book they just purchased, you know you are helping to make a positive impact on that student. During book fair we indulge children’s curiosity by encouraging them to read about what interests them. In class they read what is required, during book fair they have an opportunity to read what they are curious about. It is amazing the range of interest from sharks to The Guinness Book of World Records to The Adventures of Junie B. Jones. Each child that gets a book from the book fair is nurturing their interest and expanding their horizons.
Book fair is an awesome event to fuel the student’s interests and to raise money for the PTA but is also a lot of work. We need two adult volunteers for every two hours school is in session. There is also preliminary work to be done before book fair can even open. (Coordinating volunteers, class schedules, family night, set-up, breakdown and activities to peak students interest in the fair.)
